THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS (M-DCPS) SECME (Science, Engineering, Communication, and Mathematics Enhancement) STEAM Through Stars IV 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) after school program will serve students and their families from our four Title I schools; North Glade Elementary, Olympia Heights Elementary, Redland Elementary, and Van E. Blanton Elementary.
The STEAM Through SECME Stars IV Program is a grant-funded educational program (at no cost) that provides extra instructional support and enrichment in Reading, Mathematics, and Science through the use of technology as well as creative and interactive teaching techniques while focusing on regular-day educational standards.
In addition to educational subjects, students are instructed in the areas of nutrition, character building, and physical fitness. The STEAM Through SECME Stars IV Program also offers educational field trips that are fully paid by the grant. All field trips are held on Saturdays.
Our goal is to engage every one of our students and ultimately develop higher order thinking skills translating into academic achievement as we meet the challenges of the 21st century. STEAM Through SECME Stars IV will utilize scientifically based academic components shown to contain coherent instructional designs, which enhances learning, increases student academic performance and student engagement.
STEAM Through SECME Star IV believes that communication and collaboration between students, parents, and school personnel will improve their interactions, resolve conflicts, and better utilize the schools' resources to help students be successful.
